I recently picked up a dog from a breeder, he was her son’s pet but doesn’t get much attention and gets picked on by the alpha male lab on the farm. He is almost 2 and is a Labrador Retriever. I am wondering if it is normal that he sleeps a lot. I walk him for about 20 min in the am, gone for 9 hours to work, walk a power walk for 30 min, maybe more if its nice out or just hang outside till dark, then go to bed around 11:30. I notice that my dog is very mellow and has no interest in a ball, he seems content to snooze most of the time. He was raised on a farm and didn’t get much attention which is why he was given to me. He is already learning some basic obedience which is great! When we went to see him on the farm, he ran around outside free chasing birds, etc and when two of the other labs were let out he ran and played with them but it seems that he hasn’t had much in the way of training outside of potty training so at home other than his walks with us and some playing with his toys, he doesn’t do a lot. This is also only the first week but he is now in suburbia with us rather than on the farm so is this normal? My last dog was a female lab and was obsessed with a ball but he is not so I do not know how to entertain him more or should I let him slumber as he chooses? Help, I have a lab that doesn’t fetch!

may visit a vet
your dog may become chubby and lazy when older
visit a vet as soon as you can
get a realy small treat to go have fun
and when he is sleeping for a long time wake him up with water and start running around and acting crazy or get a pet trainer

some dogs are kinda lazy but what i would suggest is going to the vet not that he is sick but it is always good to check on any new dog or puppy.

he’s probably bored and doesn’t really care about balls they need lots of room and LOVE to swim its what they were breed to do. take him to a dog pool or a near lake were they let your dog swim and he needs more attention get like another dog or get someone to watch them during the day time while your gone they also like to chew a lot so watch the couch get some bones for him i recommend dental bones because wew! there breaths can stink! hope this helps!
