WOW. This guy is truly the real deal!!
Just make sure that you watch this clip all the way through.
You have to agree the before and after is something you rarely see with many other videos in here. And if you pay attention to the shadow on the ground, you can tell it’s done at the same day and same time!
His web site also offers a village of useful information

Another thing about Cesar, he gets bitten a lot because he doesnt have a very good training technique. Sure he has a lot of knowledge and can talk big, but he cant back it up with good skills. Good trainers get bit a lot, but GREAT trainers rarely get bit.
Kevin also deals with aggressive dogs. Hes not just good at basic training. Watch the video with Kevin and the aggressive Pit.

He wears Birks because hes so successful at training dogs! Have you noticed how Cesar Millan says he doesn’t actually train dogs? As soon as you put the leash on a dog, you are training it! What else would you call it? If you watch Cesars show, you never see him give a down-stay command from a distance like Kevin did on this video. Its amazing the dogs just drop. And Ive never seen Cesar walk a dog right next to him without a leash, especially making all those turns. Kevins Amazing!

I’ve know Kevin for over a decade and I know he has a great deal of respect for Cesar. But I honestly don’t think Kevin is trying to be Cesar. Kevin has his own style and though they both are great trainers, in many ways I think Kevin’s Diverse Method simply makes more sense than some of Cesars methods.
I don’t know that I would call a $120 pair of Birkenstock’s “flip flops.” Personally I wear nice sandals with jeans all the time. Pick up a fashion magazine it’s a popular style this summer.

buy shoes ( who wears flip flops with jeans?) , buy clothes that don’t look like you pulled them from a dumpster, and stop trying to be Cesar Millan

to many bla bla bla.

I’ve read almost the whole website. Lots of sound advice and Salem seems very professional and skilled.
A bit weird that inbetween all this good stuff there’s a whole chapter about cockie trainers that seems to be based on a very confused understanding of what positive training is and how it is done. Maybe he met trainers that misunderstod the consept themselves and thus Salem shuns the whole deal.
Shame. With operant conditioning in his toolbox Salem would be even more “Diverse” no?

I’ve read most of the excerpts from his book on the website. This guy seems to be the real deal, a dog trainer that loves what he does and have great skill.
Strqangely though, About all his knowledge about positive training are either misunderstood by him or by those who have told him about it. Sad really, if he had combined his own knowledge with the knowledge of biologists like Karen Pryor, he would simply enlarge his toolbox and be even more “diverse” in his training methods.

Several people have made similar comments about the pit in this video. As I have said in earlier comments, that’s the way the pit behaved before Kevin started training him. These were the only clips with the girl and I wanted to use them. In other clips as Kevin worked with this dog it got better and better.
Check out the pit in the other video I posted, then shoot the video editor, not the trainer!

That pit bull has it’s tail in between it’s legs and jumps every time the kid moves…not a good sign.
Plus, cesar doesn’t train dogs, as this man has done. Don’t get me wrong, he has obviously done a fantastice job but just because he has trained them to walk nicely on a lead doesn’t mean that he has made the dogs balanced. I don’t think we have another cesar millan here.

Check out the video response above (the other video I posted.) The pit in that video is not rabid, but it wanted to kill the other dogs and acted pretty psycho. The clips in this video took place over just a few minutes time. Given the initial response, I would say Kevin did a great job helping the dog become calm and submissive, so a spoiled Chihuahua shouldnt be a problem.

Can he turn a rabid, biting, barking mad spoilt chihuahua into a calm and ********** one?
The video shows him only working with dogs without issues.

it was clearly a different dog
(joking!)

its hard for me to stop my 60 pound husky from pulling me while taking him on a walk :/
February 22nd, 2010 at 11:04 am
Shane, I understand. Kevin doesnt brag much either, that’s why I put up these videos. I need to do a lot more for him but I haven’t had time to follow him around with a camera.
I know he’s trained thousands of dogs but it still amazes me how fast he can solve problems.
Did you watch the off leash clip with the German shepherd (about 2:20) or the emergency down with 2 Shepherds right after. His ability to distraction proof still amazes me too.
So are you a “Diverse Method” trainer too?
February 24th, 2010 at 10:54 am
Yes they follow off leash as well. I can teach most any obedience and I offer behavior training, so yes I can do it…..though I don’t like to brag…I don’t have an ego.
February 25th, 2010 at 5:18 am
You are right, for some its actually easy, but many find it very difficult to stop leash pulling.
You didnt say anything about the TOTAL OFF Leash Control.
Can you get your pack of huskies to follow your every turn WITHOUT a leash?
Probably not, or you would have bragged about it too.
What about giving them an emergency down command from 50 yards away, or the distraction proofing Stay command segments?
Im guessing you didnt watch the whole video.
Kevin is amazing!
February 25th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
Hmm, honestly, teaching dogs to walk is not that hard. I walk with a pack of Huskies every day, and have taught numerous dogs who pull hard to walk correctly. No use of a any special collars or anything.
February 26th, 2010 at 12:33 am
You forgot where he actually has a big o shepherd walking off leash and even as he turns, the dog’s turning with him.
February 27th, 2010 at 6:33 pm
I agree! Why give treats when the walk IS the treat.
Thats what I love about Kevin. His training makes sense.
Other trainers methods seem totally illogical they usually dont work. Kevins methods work!
One of my best friends hired a trainer that told her, her dog would NEVER be able to do the down command. Kevin taught her dog “down” in minutes that was 5 or 6 months ago the dog still obeys the command perfectly.
Kevin helps you understand what your dog is thinking!
March 1st, 2010 at 12:14 am
Hm, teaching a Dog to walk properly on a leach is not as hard as it seams in my opinion. The leach long enough so that there is no tension all the time. Then walk only when no tension is on the leash. If there is some tension, stop walking and stand still until there is no tension anymore. It looks stupid and is boring but often it works. The dog wants to walk, so the walking is the treat. If there are no words and no pulling on the leach from the humen, the dog understands fast what is wantet.

sweet vid
March 4th, 2010 at 10:01 pm
You are right! In all of the video I have, that dog has its tail between its legs BOTH before after Kevin started training it. I assure you, as Kevin worked with the dog it continually looked happier all the time! Watch the other video I posted. Youll see a different Pit Bull. Its tail is up when its aggressive still wagging even in the Down Command. Remember to look at all the other dogs in this video too. Dont judge Kevin by a dog that was nervous BEFORE he had even worked with him.
March 5th, 2010 at 11:05 am
The pitbull has his tail between his legs and looks really nervous. That’s not a balanced dog.
