Raw human grade meat is great for them, organic especially. Since I started my dog on beef, lamb and bison, his skin and coat are healthier, no bad breath, and his poops are smaller and don’t stink. Dogs need vegetables (about 10% of their diet) because they contain many important health promoting nutrients. The fiber your dog obtains from raw vegetables includes both soluble and insoluble fiber. Vegetables supply many other nutrients. Many of those nutrients are the ones that have been found to be in short supply in the modern dog’s civilized diet. This includes difficult to obtain omega 3 essential fatty acids, most of a dog’s vitamin needs, masses of enzymes and various anti-aging factors, including antioxidants and phytochemicals.

I’ve always heard that veggies, fruits and meat are pretty good for the dogs.
(no grapes, onions, garlic…and i’ve read that anything with a seed needs to be removed (like apple cores)).
i’ve started giving my pup baby carrots a couple of times a week and he’s had a piece of an apple.

Give a stalk of celery to your dog at the end of every week and see how shiny your dogs’ coat gets!

I asked my vet if it was OK to feed my dog baby carrots as a healthy treat and he said carrots were great. He also said green beans are very good for them. One of my dogs really likes apple slices. Many of the good quality canned foods have vegetables as well. I’ve started feeding one that has carrots, sweet potatoes, and blueberries.
If you find something like carrots that your dog loves, these are actually better than many of the store-bought treats with so many artificial junk ingredients.
