My dog’s nose is always cold and wet. Today it’s dry and he seems less energetic?

I read somewhere that a healthy dog’s nose is cold and wet. Should I take my dog to a vet or is it normal to be dry every once in a while?

dry does mean sick usually. I would give him or her plenty of water…and maybe some moist dog food. No table scraps.

A dry nose is not necessarily an indicator of illness. Just keep a watch on her and make sure she is drinking enough water. If she does not improve in a day or so or gets worse, I would call the vet and take her in.

Yeah, it means he is sick or at least not in tip top shape. It’s the same for cats. It might be the weather. Give him lots of fresh water.

It could just not feel well or have a slight cold….keep monitoring it and see if it’s not better in a day or two. If not then I would take it to the vet.

That is an old wives tale. A dogs nose is much like a persons lips and they can get dried out and chapped. If they ***** it can hurt very badly due to the sensativity of the area and it could get infected. You can take a basic chapstick (no minty, tingly, or flavored) and apply a small amount to the nose. The dog may lick it slightly but as long as it is plain it will not do any harm.

this is just a simple symptom of doggie cold..just make sure your dog drinks lots of water and it should be back to normal
