My mom feeds both my pomeranian and 20 pound cat deli turkey every morning instead of their kibble. I insist it is better to stay with only the kibble, but she refuses to give it up. What’s the truth

No – deli meat has high concentrations of preservatives and salt – not good for animals! If she wants to give them meat, there are better alternatives.

I don’t think deli turkey is a good thing to be giving the animals every day. This isn’t a raw diet, this is processed meat intended for humans. A small piece every now and then won’t harm them. But every day isn’t the healthiest.

You can only give the dog a little bit of the deli. Stick with Kibble!

Dog food is better than deli meat b/c it has protien plus vitamins that dogs need.

my opinion- I would think that deli turkey isnt the best option. Alot of preservitives and such… I give my dog meat, for the protien, but i boil up chicken and give him a little, off the bone, in his meals.
I would also suggest that you not replace his kibble completly, i dont know how often you feed him, but theres plenty of vitamins in there to keep his diet balanced. I wouldnt want to interupt that.
good luck

Depends on the deli turkey – most will be too salty and/or chemical-laden for good health.
On the other hand, ground turkey should be fine. Many people feed ‘raw’ and it works well for them. Ideally, there ought to be some cooked green beans, and other veggies, in there too.
One of the advantages of raw feeding is that poo dries up and blows away – It’s so completely digested that there’s little left behind to pick up.
On the other hand, many kibbles aren’t as good as they claim – A good quality kibble is a balanced meal, but a poor quality one is just trouble.

I only feed my animals deli meat very rarely as a treat. I wouldn’t suggest it for every day feeding.

Your mother is being silly. Dogs and cats aren’t humans, and aren’t designed to eat processed, cooked meat for meals. As someone else said, a little piece as a treat now and then is alright, but it certainly does NOT provide the nutrients a dog or cat needs.
Just like you wouldn’t feed your children pet food, you shouldn’t feed your pets people food. Her cat is morbidly obese, I’m guessing her dogs are too – people who tend to feed their animals human food regularly tend to feed them far too much. I’m also betting she lets them nosh in between meals and feeds them a lot of other things they shouldn’t be eating. It’s not uncommon and it can shave YEARS off of an animal’s life.
Also, you only mentioned mornings. Are the dogs only eating one meal a day? They should be eating twice a day (dog food).
Tell her if she finds her pets to be a nuisance and doesn’t want them around much longer, to go ahead and feed them turkey meat instead of healthy dog food. She’ll get the desired result, guaranteed. But if she loves those animals and likes them being around, then she needs to switch to food formulated for them, immediately.

I just a Pomeranian this weekend and when I got home I was looking around for what is the best thing to give them and I found this page. This is what a small part said…
You can boost your pet’s health profoundly by making one simple decision. All you have to do is change his diet from commercial-brand fare to something you may never have imagined giving him: real food. The fresh food you buy at the market for yourself is the food you should give your pet, too. Generations of dogs lived to ripe old ages on fresh foods… before the pet food corporations came along.
I have included the link its about half way down under the best thing to feed your dog and it really has alot of good stuff in it. I learned alot. Check it out!
EDIT** This is a quote from a vet and he say that you should feed your dof fresh fruits, vegtables and meets. If it is good for us then it is good for them!
